Project highlights
The Minerals consultancy group at ANSTO has expertise in chemical engineering, metallurgy, mineralogy, chemistry, geology, and radiation safety. We can support our client's project by providing process development services, technical review, and research.
Research provides understanding of migration of early peoples into Oceania
Research has revealed the Lapita cultural group interacted with the indigenous people of Papua New Guinea more than 3,000 years ago and set the stage for the peopling of the Pacific

Nuclear medicine processing and distribution
ANSTO’s nuclear medicine processing and distribution facility assembles, loads, tests and distributes a range of nuclear medicine products, including Mo-99. The Mo-99 is dispensed into an ANSTO radiopharmaceutical Gentech® Generator where it decays to Tc-99m.

Centre for Accelerator Science
The Centre for Accelerator Science provides complementary capabilities to Synchrotron-based and the neutron-based research with the operation of four accelerators, associated beamlines, clean laboratories and in-house expertise in ion beam analysis (IBA) and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS).

Radioanalytical chemistry
ANSTO’s Radioanalytical Chemistry (RAC) facility combines techniques in radiochemistry and radiological measurement by alpha spectrometry, gamma-ray spectrometry, and liquid scintillation analysis to deliver radiological assessments.

Radiation Monitoring
ANSTO continually monitors environmental gamma radiation from a station located in Engadine NSW. ANSTO uses environmental radiation data to evaluate atmospheric dispersion from its site. This radiation is almost completely natural background radiation.

Sample Environments
The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering maintains a sample environment service for the instruments. It comprises a range of sample environments, two sample environment laboratories and four sample preparation laboratories.
Improving rail transport
Funding awarded for research on an additive manufacturing technique for use on rail infrastructure.

United Uranium Scholarship - Privacy Collection Notice
In accordance with the Trust Deed, the United Uranium Scholarship is awarded to ‘promising young scientists’ from any Australian organisation or institution whose research or work is in the field of nuclear energy.

Before your experiment
As a new or returning facility user, there are certain requirements that must be completed in advance to allow you to participate in your planned ANSTO experiment(s).
