Funding
"Reconstructing Australia’s fire history from cave stalagmites" started mid-2021 and is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC DP200100203) with additional support from UNSW Sydney.
Additional funding has been provided by the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering through a postdoctoral research award to Dr. Micheline Campbell, and use of ANSTO facilities (such as the Australian Synchrotron and Isotope Tracing in Natural Systems facilities) are accessed through an in-kind agreement and through competitive merit-based access. The team has had five successful bids to travel to the Australian Synchrotron to use the XRF and IRM beamlines (experiment proposal numbers 17897, 17905, 18777, 19157 and 21875).
Fundamental research which led to this project was done under ARC Linkage Project LP130100177 “To what extent does fire affect karst processes? Burning questions for fire management” which ran between 2013 and 2016.
