Graduate Program

The ANSTO Graduate Program aims to develop and nurture the next generation of Australian business and science leaders. Offering a comprehensive learning and development experience providing graduates with the foundation skills to build a successful career. Our program provides opportunities for individuals to make a real difference to the lives of Australians.

The two-year program is designed to challenge thinking, build networks, develop stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.

Emerging Engineers Program

The ANSTO Emerging Engineers Program offers the opportunity for graduating students to work alongside some of Australia’s brightest minds as they begin their career in engineering. Graduates will gain exposure across a range of engineering design, delivery and project areas.

The ANSTO Engineering Group is at the forefront of delivering major engineering outcomes for ANSTO assets and processes in Reactor Operations, Nuclear Medicine, Waste Management, Civil and Infrastructure, and Decommissioning activities.

Cadetship Program

An entry level employment pathway for you to immerse yourself in practical paid work whilst completing your undergraduate studies. ANSTO’s Cadetship Program will invest in you, providing ongoing development, diverse learning, professional growth and mentoring.

Your exposure will include contributing to the ANSTO Strategy & Vision providing you with an understanding of how Nuclear Technology benefits all Australians.

Year In Industry Internship Program

The ANSTO Year In Industry Internship Program is for penultimate year students studying towards relevant scientific and/or engineering degrees. The one-year program provides industry-based learning for students to apply theory and skills to the workplace and use this experience to enhance the value of their remaining study.

It is recommended that students defer study and return for their final year following the program.

Internships

Internships at ANSTO offer the opportunity to meet some of Australia’s brightest minds and the chance to apply theory and practice, to enhance the value of remaining study. Placements will complement study and must be supported by the University.

Students bring fresh ideas and the latest in theory and practice to the workplace, challenge and sometimes improve processes and contribute in a meaningful way to the projects and activities.

Apprenticeships

ANSTO engages technicians and trade persons through a comprehensive apprenticeship program. As an apprentice, you have the chance to learn a wide range of skills while rotating through engineering workshops. These may include opportunities in drafting, maintenance, planning, quality control and nuclear core facilities.

Apprentices are required to attend a recognised training organisation, such as TAFE, to complete their formal qualifications.

Traineeships

Traineeships are offered in the context of ANSTO's business requirements. Trainees are required to complete their formal qualifications through recognised training organisations.

Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Postdoctoral Research Fellows undertake a defined research activity within the framework of ANSTO's research portfolio. Fellows work independently and collaboratively to identify, resolve and solve research questions for the period of their contract.

Fellows are able to build skills and experience that will contribute to the broader Australian economy and develop their careers as researchers. They are offered employment for a two-year fixed term period, with the possibility of a one-year extension.
