PrimeSCI! Australian Synchrotron Workshops - April 2025
What to Expect:
We invite your students to join PrimeSCI! forour Light It Up (Year 9 - 10) and Synchrotron and its Applications (Year 11 & 12) hands-on physics lab sessions. Participants can take part in experiments using specialised equipment to learn about the interaction of light and energy, nuclear physics, radioactivity and dark matter. The programs also include a tour of the Australian Synchrotron - a rare chance to see this world class facility.
Funded Places: A limited number of fully funded places are available for participants to attend the PrimeSCI! Synchrotron Tours and Lab Sessions, who would not be able to attend without financial support.
You are NOT required to complete the Registration form.

Please enrol your child in the age/2025 year level appropriate sessions only. Sessions are not suitable for students from Year 9 and below.

Light It Up

Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm - 3:30pm (2.5-hours)

💲 Price: $39.50 / Ticket (+$0.50 fee)
Advances in scientific understanding rely on developments in technology and society’s needs. Students can take part in experiments using specialised equipment to illustrate concepts in physics of interaction of light and energy, nuclear physics, radioactivity and dark matter. The program also includes a tour of the Australian Synchrotron where participants will learn what makes the facility so unique - a rare chance to see this world class facility. (2.5hrs) Years 9 - 10 (Topic taught at Year 9/10 curriculum level)

How do particle accelerators work? Curious about the Synchrotron research being conducted locally? These questions and more will be answered in the hands-on physics lab session where students can take part in experiments using specialised equipment to learn about the behaviour of electrons in electric and magnetic fields. The program also includes a tour of the Australian Synchrotron where participants will learn what makes the facility so unique. (4.5 hrs) Year 10 - 12 (Topic taught at Year 11 curriculum level)
