User Feedback
As a valued user of the Australian Synchrotron we would like to request a few minutes of your time to provide us with feedback on your recent visit. Your feedback, comments and concerns are always important to us. The User Office will ensure that these are communicated directly to the responsible staff for a solution plan as part of the feedback process.
We welcome user feedback and comments by completing a quick online survey. We ask every facility user to do this each time they visit Clayton. Thank you for taking the time to help us improve our services for you and future users.
Travel invoicing
The Australian Synchrotron provides funding support for successful beamtime applicants in the form of travel funding and/or onsite accommodation. In the case of users from New Zealand, the travel funding process is handled by the New Zealand Synchrotron Group (NZSG).
The process for invoice submission and invoice details required is shown below.
Process for invoice submission
Domestic Travel
- Within 8 weeks of beamtime, the User Group Spokesperson's organisation raises a tax invoice addressed to ANSTO - New Illawara Road, Lucas Heights NSW 2234 for the amount spent (up to the approved amount).
- The invoice should be emailed to accountspayable@ansto.gov.au. Do not include copies of the receipts.
- The invoice must include the Beamtime Reference Number and ANSTO Purchase Order Number. These numbers are listed on the applicants funding approval letter; accessible via your Experiment Authorisation (EA). ANSTO will not reimburse your travel expenses if these numbers are not listed on the invoice.
- ANSTO Accounts Payable will notify the Spokesperson's finance department when the invoice has been paid.
International Travel
- The User Group Spokesperson's organisation raises a tax invoice addressed to ANSTO - New Illawara Road, Lucas Heights NSW 2234 for the amount spent (up to the approved amount). The funding deadline is listed on your ISAP notification letter.
- The invoice should be emailed to accountspayable@ansto.gov.au. Do not include copies of the receipts.
- The invoice must include the Beamtime Reference Number and ANSTO Purchase Order Number. These numbers are listed on the applicants ISAP approval letter. ANSTO will NOT reimburse your travel expenses if these numbers are not listed on the invoice.
- ANSTO Accounts Payable will notify the Spokesperson's finance department when the invoice has been paid.
Copies of receipts are not required to be submitted to ANSTO, however they must be kept for 12 months by the user's organisation, and may be required for auditing purposes.
Invoice details
The invoice for travel funding must come directly from the organisation used to apply for the funding. The invoice must not exceed the amount originally granted and must contain GST.

Acknowledge us in your publications
The Australian Synchrotron must be appropriately acknowledged for all beamtime experiments. The following form(s) of attribution are required in the 'Acknowledgements' section.
For publications without an 'Acknowledgements' section, the following attribution(s) should be made either as a footnote to the title, or included as a reference when the instrument is identified in the 'Experimental' section.
Publications resulting from research using instruments at the Australian Synchrotron facility
"This research was undertaken on the [insert beamline name] beamline at the Australian Synchrotron, part of ANSTO."
Publications resulting from research using the Australian Synchrotron macromolecular crystallography (MX) beamlines

Tell us about your publications
The Australian Synchrotron User Portal allows you to list your new publications and view any publications where you are listed as a co-author in our database. All journal articles from the last three years linked to your name will also be displayed on beamtime proposals where you are listed as a 'Researcher'.
Users with a portal account can use the 'Publications' interface. To access the publications section please log in to the Australian Synchrotron Portal page and log in to your dashboard as below. If you don't have a Portal account, you can still search our database for publications associated with Australian Synchrotron, ANBF and ISAP-funded research.
Offsite Data Access
All data is managed in accordance with our data policy, which makes best efforts to store data on different beamlines for certain periods of time. Most of our beamlines allow their users to access their data files remotely via Secure FTP (SFTP). To download the data, we recommend using a graphical client like FileZilla or WinSCP. The following connection details need to be provided to the SFTP client of your choice. You can find additional information in our Data Download Guide.

If you are listed on the Experiment Authorisation Form, you have access to the data by default. If not, please feel free to ask your beamline scientist to authorise you for data access.
If you encounter any problems with this service, please send an email to your beamline scientist, including your User Portal email address and the Experiment Proposal Number (EPN), which you are trying to download. General feedback on this service is also appreciated.
