Collection Notice
The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is an APP entity under the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act). This is a collection notice under that Act, concerning the collection of your personal information which we collect when you register to attend one of our Radiation Safety Training courses.
Please read this information carefully.
Collection of personal information
ANSTO collects personal information from you for the primary purpose of arranging a visitor pass to access site.
ANSTO collects your personal information through the ANSTO online event registration forms.
You are not obliged to provide any personal or sensitive personal information to ANSTO, but failure to do so may mean that your course enrolment cannot be completed and you will be unable to attend a radiation safety training course.
Use
The personal information we collect from you is used to:
- Arrange a visitor pass to access site;
- Administer your registration for our radiation safety training courses and events;
- Help us understand more about the composition of our training audience;
- Perform research and analysis aimed at improving our content and services; and
- Provide you with information about other ANSTO activities, products, services and events that may be of interest to you (you can always request not to receive / opt out of ANSTO direct marketing communications).
Disclosure
For radiation safety training courses, we may disclose your personal information; course registration details; and course results to your employer upon their request. We may also disclose information regarding the radiation safety training courses we run to our regulators if requested by them to provide that information.
Otherwise, we only disclose your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy, and you consent to these disclosures.

Radiation Training Terms and Conditions
About these terms and conditions
This document sets out the terms and conditions that apply to the provision of training courses to You by ANSTO.
Definitions
In this document, some words which start with capital letters (Like This) have special meanings. The meanings of those words is set out in the dictionary in clause 10.
Fees
You must pay ANSTO the Fee at least 14 days before the Start Date. If You apply for enrolment of an Attendee less than 14 days before the Start Date, You must pay the Fee upon application.
If You do not pay the Fee by the required date, this may result in the cancellation of Your enrolment.
Replacements, cancellations and refunds:
You may replace any nominated Attendees at any time before the Start Date by giving written notice to ANSTO.
You may cancel the enrolment of any or all Attendees by giving written notice to ANSTO at least 48 hours before the Start Date. ANSTO will deduct an administrative fee and then provide You with a refund as follows:
- More than 14 days notice - 90% refund of amount paid
- 8 days - 14 days notice - 75% refund of amount paid
- 48 hours - 7 days notice - 50% refund of amount paid
- Less than 48 hours notice - no refund given
If ANSTO proposes to cancel or reschedule the Course (due to insufficient enrolments or otherwise), ANSTO will let You know at least one week before the Start Date and will (at Your option) fully refund amounts already paid by You for the Course or reserve a place for the Attendees in the next available course of the same duration as the Course.
Safety issues
You must ensure that the Attendees comply with all directions of ANSTO personnel in relation to the Course and any access to and use of ANSTO’s premises, facilities and equipment. ANSTO reserves the right to remove any Attendee from the Course if, in ANSTO’s opinion, they harm or endanger the safety of any person, animal or property. No refund will be paid if this happens.
Course materials and intellectual property:
All IPR in the Course Materials and otherwise relating to the Course belong to ANSTO. You may use the Course Materials for the purposes of attendance at the Course and internally within Your own business.
Unless ANSTO has given its prior written consent, You may not reproduce, publish, disseminate, adapt, modify or translate any of the Course Materials or allow them to be accessed or used by any other person. You may not place electronic versions of any of the Course Materials on a file server.
Course assessment
If you are dissatisfied with the assessment result received you are entitled to have your assessment task reviewed. Appeals must be made in writing within fourteen days of receipt of your assessment result. The original assessment will be reviewed by a qualified person within ANSTO. You will be advised of the result of the assessment appeal in writing.
Personal information
You agree that ANSTO may use Your and the Attendees’ contact details for the purposes of conducting surveys regarding the Course, for providing information about other services and courses that ANSTO may conduct from time to time and for similar purposes. You and the Attendees may at any time request in writing that their details no longer be used for such purposes.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, all representations, warranties, terms and conditions which would otherwise be implied in these terms and conditions are excluded.
To the extent permitted by law, ANSTO’s liability in connection with the conduct of the Course is limited at ANSTO’s election to refunding the amounts received by ANSTO from You in relation to the Course or to conducting the Course again.
To the extent permitted by law, ANSTO will not be liable for any indirect, economic or consequential loss, including without limitation loss of profit, goodwill, liability to any third party, third party financial loss or lost opportunity in connection with the Course or these terms and conditions.
You acknowledge and agree that the Course and the Course Materials are general in nature and may not be appropriate for Your specific needs. ANSTO may be able to provide specialist consultancy services if requested.
Dictionary
ANSTO means Australian Nuclear Science And Technology Organisation (ABN 47 956 969 590), a body corporate established under the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation Act 1987 (Cth) of PMB 1, Menai, New South Wales
Attendees means the persons listed as the “Course Attendees” in the Registration Form and includes any replacements nominated under clause 1.
Course means the course specified in the Registration Form.
Course Materials means all documents, information and materials supplied (in any form) by or on behalf of ANSTO to You and/or the Attendees in connection with the Course.
Fee means the amount payable by You for the Course, as set out in the Registration Form.
IPR means any and all statutory and other proprietary rights throughout the world in respect of copyright and neighbouring rights, all rights in relation to inventions, patents, designs, circuit layouts and rights to require information to be kept confidential, and all other intellectual property rights defined in Article 2 of the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organisation of July 1967.
Registration Form means the form submitted by You and accepted by ANSTO for attendance by the Attendees at the Course.
Start Date means the date listed in the Registration Form.
You means the entity listed as the “Company” in the Registration Form or, if no “Company” is listed, the Attendees.
