
Role at ANSTO
Leena works on the development of new ligand systems for 68Ga and 177Lu.
Background
Before joining Lifesciences in 2010 Leena spent 4 years working for Ceramisphere, a ANSTO start-up company working to commercialise patented encapsulation and controlled release technology based on sub-micron ceramic (e.g. silica) micro-spheres.
Qualifications & Achievements
Leena is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Sydney under the collaborative leadership of Dr Nigel Lenkeek(ANSTO), Dr Benjamin Fraser (ANSTO), Professor Trevor Hambley (USyd) and Dr Michela Simone (USyd).
As part of her PhD Leena presented “The Development and Evaluation of New Ligands for the Complexation of 68Ga and 177Lu” at the RACI Inorganic Chemistry Conference at Perth, WA, in December 2011.
At this conference, her poster received the award for the Best Student Poster Presentation. She completed a Bachelor of Medicinal Chemisty (Adv) Hons from the University of Wollongong in 2006.
Leena is a member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Women in Nuclear association
