Stewart started at ACNS in 2007 after completing his Bachelor’s degree where he completed his honours projects with ANSTO. Following the successful completion of these projects Stewart worked with the Sample Environment Group providing mechanical engineering design and analysis (analytical and FEA) on a number of projects including automated sample changing devices, furnaces, vacuum, high pressure, and cryogenic systems.
Stewart also worked in the Scientific Operations Group providing mechanical engineering expertise and project management leadership to a number of Neutron Beam Instrument improvement projects, specifically in the neutron beam optics and shielding areas. Stewart was seconded to the European Spallation Source (ESS) and was based in Lund for 2 years where Stewart was the Lead Instrument Engineer for the Imaging beamline ODIN.
Stewart provided leading engineering support in the mechanical engineering design, systems engineering and project management of the preliminary design of ODIN.
Stewart returned to ACNS at the end of 2015 and is currently based in the Capital Program Group. Stewart is currently providing leading engineering and project management support for the relocation of the BioRef reflectometer instrument.
