Role at ANSTO

Klaudiusz Jakubowski is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Health Research and Technology Group. He is primarily focused on the development of Neutron Capture Enhanced Particle Therapy, pioneered at ANSTO. With expertise in medical and nuclear physics, and computational modelling of the interactions of radiation with matter, Klaudiusz contributes to radiobiological research and the development of next-generation neutron detection technology and supports various multidisciplinary research activities at the thermal neutron Dingo beamline.

During his joint PhD at the University of Wollongong and ANSTO, Klaudiusz led the development of the first validated functional Monte Carlo model of a thermal neutron source – the Dingo beamline. He also created two advanced real-time wide-band neutron beam-monitoring devices. His technical skill set includes programming in Python, C++, C, and MATLAB, along with algorithm development, optimization, and automation. He is proficient with Linux platforms, high-performance computing clusters, the Geant4 simulation toolkit, and CAD software.

Previously, Klaudiusz served as an assistant radiotherapy physicist at Imperial College Hospital in London. He holds a Master’s in Medical Physics and a Bachelor’s in Biophysics from the University of Silesia, Poland, and completed numerous extracurricular projects and trainings.

Outside of work, Klaudiusz enjoys playing soccer for a local St George Premier League 1 team in Hurstville.
