A paper containing data from our PLATYPUS neutron reflectometer, and using deuterated materials produced specifically for the experiments by the Chemical Deuteration team at the National Deuteration Facility, has just been published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications. The paper entitled "Unambiguous detection of nitrated explosive vapours by fluorescence quenching of dendrimer films" has been published by a team of collaborators from the University of Queensland.
The work is potentially important in allowing the sensing of explosives, by "sniffing the vapours" from a distance.
