Secretary Andrews, who is a mechanical engineer and a strong advocate for the applied sciences and engineering, applauded the completion of the new $6 million facility.
The purpose-built facility uses advanced architectural design features to mitigate external influence which can detract from the quality and performance of highly-sensitive electron microscopes.
The building has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories of the Australian Timber Design Awards. Secretary Andrews described the design as “stunning”.
