The ANSTO Nuclear Medicine (ANM) project reached a significant milestone recently with the first pour of high density concrete to shield hot cells used in the production of Molybdenum-99 (Mo-99). With a density greater than 3,600kg/m3, this heavyweight concrete will surround the hot cells providing appropriate radiation shielding.
As of 30 November 2015, the progress on construction included:
•Over 769 tonnes of steel reinforcement in place
•In excess of 101 tonnes of structural steel installed
•More than 4292m3 of concrete poured
•Over 202m3 of high density concrete poured
