ANSTO has warmly welcomed the official launch of the Monash Precinct Network by Victorian Member for Ashwood, Matt Fregon MP at a special event at the Australian Synchrotron.
The event in Melbourne last week brought together over 100 people from across state and federal government and industry, including the Network’s founding partners.
The Monash Precinct Network aims to build better connections between industry, institutions, and government, and drive local and global collaboration.
It provides a platform for some of the most innovative and globally-connected Australian businesses, and science and education organisations to join forces with government to support and foster talent, create jobs, share ideas to boost competitiveness and performance, and spark further innovation.
The Network sits at the heart of the expanding Monash Technology Precinct, centred on Monash University’s Clayton campus. As the largest hub for employment and innovation in Victoria outside of Melbourne’s Central Business District with over 95,000 employees, the Monash Technology Precinct contributes more than $10 billion to the Victorian economy each year.
The Network draws on the support of founding key partners including the Victorian Government (Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry, and Regions) and the City of Monash, in addition to ANSTO (the Australian Synchrotron), CSIRO, Monash University, Eastern Innovation, and the Suburban Rail Loop.
At the official launch last week, Monash Precinct Network Executive Officer Janine Shearer said the Network is open to all innovation-focused organisations with a presence in the Monash region.
“The Monash Precinct Network will help individuals, industry, and research organisations to make the professional, organisational, and creative connections they need to evolve, expand, and innovate,” Ms Shearer said.
“The Network will be a hothouse for sharing ideas that will facilitate new innovations that would otherwise not happen.”
Group Executive for Nuclear Science and Technology at ANSTO, Professor Andrew Peele lead the launch event at the Australian Synchrotron.
“The Monash Precinct Network is a unique precinct that is anchored in science and technology, and looks to leverage world-class capabilities, researchers, and talent to support industry both locally and internationally,” Prof. Peele said.
“As a partner of the Network, ANSTO is excited to bring our significant infrastructure and expertise spanning many industry sectors, to support the innovation ecosystem, grow local capabilities, and broaden our existing international collaborations.”
