Today we celebrate a full year of flawless cold-neutron operations at OPAL. It is exactly a year since 18 July 2013, when the reactor restarted operations with the cold source operating, after a long hiatus. Please join us in congratulating the Reactor Operations team, led by Lubi Dimitrovski and David Vittorio for their leadership in achieving this important milestone.
Seven of OPAL's fleet of thirteen neutron beam instruments are dependent on cold neutrons: 3 small-angle neutron scattering instruments (QUOKKA, BILBY and KOOKABURRA), the PLATYPUS neutron reflectometer, and 3 cold-neutron spectrometers (PELICAN, SIKA and EMU).
