ANSTO Australian Synchrotron User Advisory Committee (UAC)
The User Advisory Committee (UAC) is an independent group that provides advice to ANSTO Australian Synchrotron (AS) senior management on issues from a user perspective.
The role of the AS UAC is:
To represent AS user interests to AS and ANSTO management;
To provide advice and feedback on the operation and development of the AS and beamlines, including all processes involving users;
To assist the AS in communicating feedback to users about AS related issues;
In coordination with the AS, to act as an advocate for the AS, the user community and Australian/New Zealand/Singapore synchrotron science in general, and;
To organise the biennial User Meeting with administration assistance from the AS.
The UAC comprises eight full members, elected by popular vote by the user community. One elected position is filled by a postgraduate student. The retiring chair also remains for an additional time in an ex-officio advisory role. All eight Program Advisory Committee (PAC) chairs are also ex-officio members of the committee.
All UAC members are current AS users who have been on a successful AS merit proposal and have attended beamtime. Members cover a broad national and regional spread together with a diverse discipline mix related to the major branches of synchrotron science. UAC members represent the interests of the wider synchrotron user community and membership is drawn from the science community from around Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
