2024 Australian Synchrotron Open Day – Free Entry

Join us on Sunday 13 October 2024 for a rare opportunity to explore the cutting-edge world of the Australian Synchrotron and learn how it's accelerating Australian Science! Step behind the scenes of this state-of-the-art facility and witness the wonders of modern science in action.
Event Highlights:
Guided Experience:
- Begin your visit with a 30-minute introductory presentation that will walk you through how the Synchrotron operates and the groundbreaking research it supports.
- After the presentation, embark on a self-guided tour of the Synchrotron, where you’ll have an hour to explore at your own pace.
Interactive Opportunities:
- Engage with our scientists stationed at each Synchrotron beamline and learn about their fascinating work.
- Enjoy live interviews with ANSTO scientists while unwinding in our café or picnic areas.
- Bring the family—children can participate in exciting science workshops and hands-on activities.
Special Features:
- Capture the moment with plenty of photo opportunities and take part in our regular giveaways!
Enhance Your Open Day Experience:
Online tickets close on Saturday 12th of October 2024 at 5pm.
1. Tunnel Tours (SOLD OUT)
Cost: $20 per person
Frequency: Every 15 minutes
Note: Suitable for ages 8 and above.
2. Light and Colour Workshop
Cost: $15 per child
Frequency: Every 30 minutes (10am - 3pm)
Note: Suitable for children aged 14 and under.
Tickets will be available on the day to purchase at the Australian Synchrotron Information Desk.
3. Diffraction/Refraction Workshop
Cost: $18 per child
Frequency: Every 30 minutes (10am - 3pm)
Note: Suitable for children aged 14 and over.
Tickets will be available on the day to purchase at the Australian Synchrotron Information Desk.
4. Synchrotron Quiet Hour
A modified Open Day environment that supports children and adults with Autism and specific sensory needs. Please only book if required as numbers will be limited to reduce crowds.

Parking Information:
Free Parking
Available at Monash University Southeast car parks (SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, and SE5) via Wellington Road. Parking is free on weekends.
- Follow the Variable Message Signs (digital signs) on Blackburn Rd (outside the Synchrotron Front Entrance) and Wellington Rd (outside the Monash Entrance) to locate the car parks.
- From the carparks, directional signage will guide you to the Synchrotron - just a 6-8 minute walk.
- To safely cross Blackburn Rd, use the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Blackburn and Wellington Rds.

Accessible Parking
